Suchi Jatia – Charge d’Affaires
Your go-to for when you don’t like the choice of burgers, or the AC is too cold in committee, our Charge d’Affaires is responsible for every organisational detail of UNiS this year. It is her we have to thank for everything from the Weducate sponsored pens you will use to draft last minute general speakers’ list speeches, to the trophies and certificates awarded at the end. Wish her the best of luck as she navigates the treacherous waters of communicating between the teachers and the Chairs – though we are sure that given her experience as the illustrious founder of an incredibly charitable not-for-profit, our Charge d’Affaires will pull off the weekend without a hitch.

Anshul Shah – Director-General of the Security Council
Widely known to be the debater who can convince you of something he barely believes himself, Anshul is the chair who thinks on his feet. He almost never cares what people think – he can leave a conversation, having convinced no one of his argument, with his confidence intact. He will argue his way into the best room for his committee, he will debate his friends into giving him the extra shawarma, and he will definitely fight his way into getting an A+ for a drawing of a sofa on a history project. The way to this chair’s heart is through his stomach, and chatting about football might be the only way to soften him up, but beware his wrath – Anshul knows his facts, and will call you out when you don’t know yours.

Ambar Dange – Director-General of the Joint Crisis Committee
If there’s a chair to be feared this year at UNiS, it’s Ambar. Why, you ask? Because all you have to do is add an ‘R’ to his name and he becomes DANGER. And a danger he is, at least to your privacy. Ambar is one of the most well-researched chairs in the history of UNiS – at least when it comes to finding out your parents’ net worth. The number of your friends he can list off, along with information about their lives, purely from instagram stalking sessions is astounding. As far as this chair’s debate skills go, I think they are best conveyed through the story of some events that transpired a couple of nights ago. Our Director-General was walking down the street when suddenly, confronted with a motorcyclist, he moved to the right to let the man pass. The man, also, happened to move to the right. So, our Ambar Dange moved to the left… as did the biker. This continued for so long, that the Director-General of this year’s JCC simply sat down on the road. Take heed from the motorcyclist dear delegates, and know that even the mighty Danger can be broken.

Neil Nooreyezdan – Director-General of the Historic Security Council
An actual-factual award winning comedian, this chair’s main agenda is F-U-N! Neil has made bold promises of his committee being the most entertaining one this year at UNiS – delegates be forewarned. When it comes to this chair’s debating style, let it be known that unlike Anshul, Neil has never allowed his dignity to stand in the way of proving he is right. He will not back down from an argument until his opponent, himself, or sometimes both of them, are in tears. Dubbed “Mr. Question” by a number of BIS teachers, there is no MUN related question he will be stumped by. Instead, think of this chair as our resident procedure-snob – if you don’t know the difference between a point of personal privilege and a point of information, or between a resolution, an amendment, and a directive, you might as well get your will ready. But do not fear – ham sandwiches, cranberries, peanuts and cheese are a time-honoured way of staying on the good side of this Director-General.

Aamyneh Mecklai – Head Chair of the Republican Committee, JCC
Pronounced /aah-min-ay/
Long time MUNner and advocate of personal independence, Head Chair of the Republican Committee Aamyneh Mecklai does it all. Not only does she spend hours on end working, practicing piano and ballet, but she also makes time to focus her positive energy to help the people around her. Her advice and approachability make her an ideal Chair, especially for first time delegates. But don’t take her calm demeanor nor sweet smile for granted – Aams holds her ground with swift, rational arguments that you can never see coming, and a warm embrace of all things thrown her way. This makes her practically indestructible; much like her determined soul.
Pro tip: Read her some poetry and she’ll literally melt.

Pradyumna Sapre – Head Chair of the Democrats Committee, JCC
Although it would take an entire thesis to list out his achievements, Head Chair of the Democrats Pradyumna Sapre is nothing less than brilliant. His quick-thinking and calm attitude only makes committee more nerve-wracking for his fellow delegates; he, on the other hand, enjoys symphonies and melodies on repeat in his mind. This multitalented, multifaceted creature of the wild is one of the most entertaining people to be around – play some tunes and he’ll break out into spontaneous dance in the middle of a mundane caucus.
Pro tip: You can talk to Pradz about ANYTHING and he’ll find a way to wow you.

Vir Makim – Deputy Chair of the Security Council
After a hearty Gujju thali meal including dhoklas, khandvi and fafdas as mere appetizers, Vir Makim is charged and ready to fight. In committee, he is a force to be reckoned with; with a booming voice and melodramatic arguments, his presence can never be ignored. Whether in Indian or Western attire, Vir is always elegantly dressed – but his calm demeanor melts away as committee gets heated. Vir upholds the family tradition as Deputy Chair this year. Don’t be fooled by his buttoned up sherwanis – when the beat drops, he can go wild.
Pro tip: If you want to get on his nerves, eat methi theplas for breakfast.

Advait Prasad – Deputy Chair of the Historic Security Council
A connoisseur of history, music and politics, Advait “Addu” Prasad is our latest addition to the UNiS family. Ex-Cathedral turned BIS, he brings with him a whirlwind of excitement, chaos and (he claims) absolute banter. Although he insists his disinterest in all things unworldly, he’s a sucker for a great gossip session. Spill some tea to reveal his zestful side, but be careful not to cross any boundaries for he can be as strong a foe as he is a friend. Discover Addu’s non-yelling voice by asking him to perform Yesterday or Stand By Me in committee.
Pro tip: Make a good impression by discussing Malcolm Gladwell or Billy Joel, and remember, finesse is key.

Riana Shah – Deputy Chair of the Democrats Committee, JCC
“And though she be but little she is fierce.”
One can argue that Shakespeare wrote this with Deputy Head of the Democrats, Riana Shah, in mind. Despite her lovely little dresses and cute fringe, Riana’s mind works like a General preparing for battle. And trust us, a battle with her is not one you’d be likely to win. This dedicated MUNner has spent sleepless nights strategizing and collaborating – delegates, she’s your go-to person to learn ‘How to Snake without being Snaked’ at UNiS 2019.
Pro tip: Offer her a Dairy Milk and a salsa dance and she’ll thrilled.

Zian Mistry – Deputy Chair of the Democrats Committee, JCC
An avid MUNner, “Ziggy” has many years of experience behind him – as well as all the delegates he mercilessly defeated to attain the title of Best, Outstanding, and Honourable. Mr. Mistry’s enthusiasm for international relations and his alacrity in debate make him the ‘that delegate’, the one everyone pays attention to when he has the floor. Delegates of the JCC must not irritate their Deputy Chair, for when his unibrow narrows and his hands crumple into a fist, a Mentos related accident is sure to occur.
Pro tip: To get in his good books, go up to him and screech “ZIIIEEENNNN!!!” in his ear.

Karthik Srinivasan – Deputy Chair of the Republican Committee, JCC
More commonly known as “Pongal”, Deputy Head Karthik Srinivasan is that one seemingly quiet, reserved MUNner who pipes up midway through committee with the most mind-boggling points and paperwork. Don’t be fooled by the hair that droops down to his forehead – he has eyes and ears everywhere. Karthik will not only pick up on the obsolete things delegates say in committee, but will also respond to them with the most logical counters that make you question everything you just said; be vigilant with what you say around him.
Pro tip: He’s a sweet guy who absolutely loves all football-related news. Chelsea fans, you’re lucky!

Behram Hathi – Deputy Chair of the Republican Committee, JCC
Don’t let this chair’s calm demeanour fool you, Behram will never let go of an argument, even if it’s dead (it’s BAYZ-zle not BAZ-zle).
Behram’s passion and understanding of politics helps him excel at MUN. Armed with well-articulated points, backed by logical reasoning, it’s difficult to refute his statements. However, the speed of the fan is critical for a favourable result, because if it’s “too slow” he might feel “drunk” (An actual quote from 3rd-grade Behram). Discussions about classical music will certainly surely pique his interest, and a conversation in German is bound to impress him!

Hamza Poonawala – Deputy Chair of the Historic Security Council
“Whenever I’m about to do something, I think, ‘Would a stupid person do that?’ And if they would, I do not do that thing”- Dwight Schrute.
This is a quote that Hamza lives by, and I suggest that the delegates in his committee do the same. Following this advice will ensure that you stay in committee.
He has been to 11 MUNS and his meticulous preparation and research helps him thrive (Trust me when I call it meticulous, it is believed that he did nearly 1000 past papers to prepare for the IGCSEs). Aside from debating, Hamza enjoys swimming, math and chemistry. Remember, a theory about Game of Thrones or Stranger Things will get you on his good side.

Dhruv Gurjar – Deputy Chair of the Security Council
Dhruv is generally known for asking the most intriguing yet random questions in class, so be careful delegates, because that’s literally his job this weekend! Maybe you will experience the frustration teachers feel everytime he puts his hand up. To put your mind at ease, he is also approachable and ready to resolve doubts regardless of how trivial they are.
One thing to learn from this chair’s days as a delegate is that confidence in your ideas will really set you apart. This chair will appreciate a skinny tie or any opportunity to talk about diving.
